Summer Chic

In the heat of the summer, most of us gals get tempted to throw on an old t-shirt, cutoffs, and baseball cap before we head out the door. There are casual alternatives that are just as easy to put together and ten times as stylish.
These looks may seem dressy, but my motto is that it's better to be overdressed than under-dressed. You'll look and feel so much better wearing an outfit you feel great in. I know I don't feel like myself or have as much confidence if I'm not wearing an outfit I love.

Tips on looking cute despite the summer heat:

1. Dress up your t-shirt

Throwing on a lightweight scarf adds visual interest and protects from UV rays. The pink shorts add a pop of color and the accessories help add a touch of sophistication.

Adding a piece of statement jewelry to a plain white tee adds instant class. Just ask Beyonce!

2. Wear a variety of cute, summery tops that will keep you cool and make you feel feminine

3. Pair a t-shirt or other cute top with a eye-catching skirt:

Embrace colors! If you prefer a monochromatic wardrobe, add a pop of color with accessories.

4. Wear a maxi-dress

Maxi-dresses are very trendy this year. This is a look you could take from the beach to a dinner date. I love the pairing of the turquoise dress with the orange bag. These colors are complements on the color wheel and intensify each other when juxtaposed.

Every girl should have a flower clip for her hair.

5. Or try a sundress
Sundresses are, of course, a personal favorite.

6. Save those ratty flip flops for cleaning the house! There are a variety of cute summer sandals that are every bit as comfortable.
7. Pony tails are cute and classic, but can get a bit boring to wear everyday. Try a few simple updos for a change
